Hairstylist to The Stars Reveals The Celebrities With and Without Hair Extensions

Recent research conducted by Hairtrade.com revealed that 87 percent of women who have hair extensions will lie about them to their nearest and dearest.

So given these unbelievable figures I decided to enlist the help of a top celebrity hairstylist to shed light on who's faking it among the rich and famous set.

Julie Mansour from Sydney hairdressers-to-the-stars Pierre Haddad, who has tended to the tresses of model and WAG Jesinta Franklin and Studio 10 panellist Jo Casamento, has lifted the veil on which Aussie celebs have enhanced their looks with hair extensions.

Celebrities With and Without Hair Extensions

From an actress and popular reality star to a high profile AFL WAG: A hairstylist to the stars has revealed which celebrities are faking it with hair extensions and who are blessed with natural glossy long longs

'You'd be surprised at who's faking it these days as good quality hair extensions are extremely convincing,' Mansour said.

She explained that the secret behind Bachelor In Paradise star Cassandra Wood's  stunning mermaid-style tresses is 'layers and layers of platinum blonde individual hair extensions'.

Meanwhile, Laurina Fleure, who rose to fame on The Bachelor franchise is a 'hair extensions devotee.'

The brunette beauty, who regularly steps out with Victoria's Secret runway-worthy tousled locks, has been documenting her obsession with hair extensions on social media for years.

Fan: Sweaty Betty PR founder Roxy Jacenko, 38, has been a 'huge fan' of hair extensions for the past 10 years

Switch: The Sydney PR queen has made no secret of her use of hair extensions on social media -  as one day she's sporting a platinum blonde long bob (left), and the next she's showing off Barbie-doll-style sweeping flaxen waves (right)

'I was never blessed with long lush locks in fact I have all of about nine hairs! I started getting extensions about ten years ago and have tried every type from wefts to tapes and now have settled on individuals,' Roxy (pictured) told Daily Mail Australia

Mansour also revealed that Studio 10 panellist Jo Casamento helps pump up her blonde long 'lob' with extensions, despite having shorter locks.

Elsewhere, Sweaty Betty PR founder Roxy Jacenko, 38, has been a 'huge fan' of hair extensions for the past 10 years.

Love is in the hair extensions! Laurina Fleure, (pictured) who regularly steps out with Victoria's Secret runway-worthy tousled locks, has been documenting her obsession with hair extensions on social media for year

'I was never blessed with long lush locks, in fact I have all of about nine hairs! I started getting extensions about ten years ago and have tried every type from wefts to tapes and now have settled on individuals,' Roxy told Daily Mail Australia.

'I find they are far more comfortable to sleep on, I don't end up with a headache from any tightness like you would from wefts and gone are the days of walking along and a tape extension dropping on the floor!'

Sydney Fashion Blogger Laura Hazzouri also rated a mention by Mansour, along with media personality Mel Greig.

On the flip side , Mansour said that it's most likely short-haired stars, such as former beauty journalist turned skincare founder Zoë Foster Blake, glamorous NRL WAG Phoebe Burgess and model Lara Worthington (née Bingle), are rocking their natural locks.

Short hair, don't care! Perhaps more surprisingly, Studio 10 panellist Jo Casamento (pictured) helps pump up her blonde long bob with hair extensions

And surprisingly, she believes that former Home and Away star Pia Miller does not appear to wear hair extensions on a regular basis.

'Pia is naturally blessed with impossibly glossy long locks,' she explained.

'She reportedly swears by washing her hair just once every four days and by applying salt water spray frequently - it's certainly working for her!'

Another unexpected addition to the 'real hair squad' is Bachelor star and 'Tahitian goddess', Elora Murger.

The serial reality television contestant, who first appeared on Matty J's season of The Bachelor in 2017, claimed her cascading sunkissed waves are 'totally au naturel'.

Blonde ambition: Media personality, Mel Greig also use hair extensions, according to an Australian celebrity hairstylist

'I have no (extensions),' she confirmed to Daily Mail Australia, before adding: 'My hair grows way better in Hawaii.'

She said she achieves her long, healthy tresses by routinely lathering her hair in 'coconut oil and letting it soak overnight'.

Meanwhile, Mansour went on to reveal YouTube star and Hit Network radio star  Tanya Hennessy has been blessed with a 'bona fide crowning glory.'

Natural: On the flip side, it's most likely short-haired stars, such as former beauty journalist turned skincare founder Zoë Foster Blake, glamorous NRL WAG Phoebe Burgess and model Lara Worthington (née Bingle) are rocking their natural locks

Fans could be fooled into thinking Tanya has been fitted with a full-head of extensions as she sports strong, thick hair which almost reaches her waist.

But Mansour said the raven-haired radio star's impressive mane is '100 per cent authentic.'

Mansour explained that extensions are not just limited to long hair.

'There's a misconception that hair extensions are just for clients with medium or long hair. But the truth is extensions can be added to an extensive range of lengths,' she said.

'Hair extensions are the perfect solution for clients who want to add volume, oomph and texture to their bob or lob.'

Mansour went on to explain that natural hair needs to be at least six to seven inches long (which is around shoulder length) for 'extensions to be placed securely on the clients hair'.

'Totally au naturel!' Another unexpected addition to the 'real hair squad' is Tahitian goddess, Elora Murger (pictured)

She believes that hair extensions are the ultimate accessory for celebrities and high-profile identities as they essentially eliminate 'bad hair days.'

'Hair extensions add instant thickness, shine, colour and style,' she said.

'They also make any hairstyle more beautiful and interesting by adding volume and can make any simple braid look more voluminous and intricate.'

Loud and proud! While some people prefer to pretend their long locks are natural, former Bachelorette star Sophie Monk has made no secret of her use of hair extensions

In April last year, former Bachelorette star Sophie Monk, 39, told her legion of followers 'hair extensions can change anything' as she debuted a new set of glossy blonde locks in an Instagram video.

What's more, AFL WAG, Rebecca Judd revealed she opted for flawless hair extensions to complement her stunning J'Aton gown at the Logie Awards in 2017.

In 2015, the secret to Delta Goodrem's flowing golden locks was revealed when she was photographed at a hairdressing salon.

The Voice Australia coach flashed a glimpse of the hair extensions responsible for her trademark look during a professional blow-dry.

In fact, hair extensions have become so popular in the celebrity world it's almost a rarity when a VIP steps out sporting their very own natural head of hair.

Hairdresser to the stars Priscilla Valles recently confirmed that theory in an interview with Hollywood Reporter in 2017, when she estimated that 97 per cent of all female celebrities wore hair extensions.

While we're splitting hairs so to speak, I feel the need to proceed with full disclosure and confess that I was in fact recently fitted with hair extensions for the very first time at Sydney's Pierre Haddad.

However I didn't even need to wheel out a pre-prepared lie about how 'I woke up as a real-life Rapunzel after a binge on nail, hair and skin tablets for six months', as my typically eagle-eyed colleagues didn't even notice.

Bombshell: While she's embraced many different styles over the years, Delta Goodrem has long been known for her flowing blonde locks. In 2015, it was revealed she uses hair extensions

Yes, I can confirm some of the best hair and beauty hacks in the business, who have remarked on far less significant aspects of my existence, such as the logo on my coffee cup and the contents of my lunchbox, failed to recognise my sparse rat's tail had miraculously grown 100 cm in 24 hours and sprouted into an Ariana Grande 'mind of its own' derrière-skimming ponytail.

I was thoroughly thrilled that my new hair transformation slipped under the radar with my co-workers because it was proof my new mane looks real, natural and convincing beyond measure.

Meanwhile, my hair transformation was relatively fast, fun and entirely painless thanks to Pierre Haddad's extension specialist, Rodney Zoughaib.

He created multiple tracks throughout my scalp and applied a full head (120 pieces) of virgin Russian hair extensions to my mane using the copper bell method, which is said to allow the 'hair to grow freely with limited to no damage'.

The extensions were fastened to small strands of my hair using copper bells, which is an invisible attachment mechanism which holds the extension in place.

Mansour explained copper bells are 'weightless' and 'inconspicuous,' which she claims makes this method 'the most natural and most advanced on the market'.

COPPER BELL HAIR EXTENSIONS

Copper bells are the invisible attachment mechanism which holds the extension in place.

Ms Mansour explained copper bells are 'weightless' and 'inconspicuous,' which she claims makes this method 'the most natural and most advanced on the market'.

But perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this innovative method is that it requires no use of excessive heat or stress placed onto the attachment area

'They are essentially weightless and transparent ensuring the wearer complete camouflaging, confidence and comfort. They are extremely comfortable to wear and are completely visible to detect,' she said.

But perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this innovative method is that it requires no use of excessive heat or stress placed onto the attachment area.

Mansour said this is an exceptional benefit (and on behalf of women across the world, I concur) as it means 'there will be virtually no damage to your own hair.'

A full head of Russian hair extensions will cost approximately between $1800-$2400 and then $550 (for a full head) every 8-10 weeks when they readjust the extensions further up the hair shaft.

The hair itself lasts between 12 -18 months depending on how well an individual tends to their tresses.

Once the hairstylist derobed my cutting cloak I recall cupping my gaping mouth in sheer delight, markedly similar to a giddy beauty queen who had just been crowned Miss Australia.

I felt particularly overjoyed with the rib-grazing length of my new locks as I have been attempting to grow my hair for almost half a decade to no avail.

With regular treatments, minimal use of heating and styling tools and regular trims, I have only managed to get my mane to my bra line thus the extra centimetres have been life-altering.

I can confirm they do not feel overly heavy or burdensome so far. However in the interest of honesty, I was unable to sleep comfortably on my back for the first three days after the extensions were fitted, as I initially felt some pressure from the copper bell attachments while lying down.

Hair transformation: Ilaria Brophy (pictured before, left, and after, right) trialed hair extensions at Sydney hairdressing salon Pierre Haddad

My new hair implants have been perfectly matched to my chocolate hair hue and moreover the dark tone of the copper bell attachments allow the joins to seamlessly blend in with my roots and remain mostly concealed from sight.

As you can see from before and after images, my fine, limp and wispy brown mop was transformed into cascading chestnut waves which ooze Hollywood glamour.

What's more, hair extensions are said to have an anti-aging effect, and I believe my new mass of perfectly polished, voluminous and bouncy strands have added an air of youthfulness and softness to my 32-year-old visage.

Mane appeal: Ilaria was fitted with a full head (120 pieces) of virgin Russian hair extensions using the copper bell method, which is said to allow the 'hair to grow freely with limited to no damage'
